Hi! I'm Carly, and I'm the Head of Data Science and Analytics at Nextdoor, the private social network for neighborhoods. My career through data has been somewhat nonlinear - I started with a degree in geology, worked for a while in catastrophe risk modeling, and then went back to school and made the jump to data science. I love using data to make smart decisions, and empowering teams to build great data-centric products. My philosophy on data science is that it's a two part job - you have to be technically strong while also having the skills to communicate effectively about the range and impact of your work.
