Meet The Speakers

Trevear Thomas
Trevear Thomas
National Managing Principal, Mergers, Acquisitions & Restructuring

Trevear is the National Managing Principal for Merger & Acquisition Services and has more than 20 years of industry and consulting experience. He serves as a trusted advisor to senior client executive teams and boards of directors on their ability to grow, divest, and fundamentally change the nature of their business and competitive position in a dynamic market full of change and disruption. His expertise and experience spans M&A strategy, target screening, operational diligence, integration and divestiture planning and execution with an emphasis on finance post close execution and transformation efforts.

Trevear leads Deloitte’s M&A business where he has P&L responsibility and sets the firm’s view on M&A’s strategy and execution nationally. Moreover, he sits on the firm’s Management Committee that drives the key decisions of the Consulting business. Trevear is also a member of the Deloitte Global Board of Directors.

Trevear is a member of the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD), to which he brings his knowledge of and experience with the latest emerging governance issues and trends impacting M&A, financial performance, disrupting business models, and changing the competitive landscape. He has also shared his deep expertise and knowledge in various publications and speaking opportunities at industry conferences throughout his career.

Trevear earned an MBA from the MIT Sloan School of Management and holds a BS in computer science from Clark Atlanta University.

Ashley Cortez
Ashley Cortez
Principal, Tax

Ashley is a tax principal in Deloitte's M&A Transaction Services group. She has over twelve years of experience as a dedicated M&A specialist, serving both private equity investors and corporate acquirers.

She has experience in the technology, media and entertainment, and consumer and industrial products industries. Ashley has transaction experience related to multi-jurisdiction tax due diligence, tax structuring, and closing aspects of transactions, including the coordination of cross-border transactions. She is also a licensed attorney in Montana and is a member of the Montana Bar Association and the American Bar Association.

Ashley has participated in many of the firm’s inclusion and well-being programs and has led inclusion programs for tax seniors. She is heavily involved in recruiting and developing team members.

Nadia Orawski
Nadia Orawski
Principal, Consulting, Mergers & Acquisition and Restructuring

Nadia is a Leader in Deloitte’s FSI Mergers & Acquisitions and Restructuring practice. She has been responsible for advising and delivering hundreds of programs in an M&A environment. Her experience includes large-scale, complex, global projects in M&A and restructuring environments.

She has extensive experience in integration, divestitures and restructuring across M&A strategy, target screening, buy and sell side due diligence, global integration / divestiture program management, Day 1/Day 2 readiness and implementation, functional separation and integration planning, transition service agreements, M&A capability development in addition to restructuring and transformation. Her experience also spans process analysis and reengineering, benchmarking, cost benefit studies, scenario and feasibility planning.

She focuses on complex, global deals and concurrent deals across the entire deal lifecycle. She has significant experience with private equity and strategic organizations with a focus in Financial Services (Banking, Payments) and Technology (Data, Analytics, Fintech). Nadia is also Deloitte's US Cost Transformation leader and M&A Inclusion leader.

Melinda Yee
Melinda Yee
Partner, M&A Transaction Services

Melinda leads a team of 400 professionals in Deloitte’s Risk and Financial Advisory practice in Houston focused on helping organizations navigate a variety of risks to lead in the marketplace and disrupt through innovation. She has over 25 years of public accounting experience with a background in accounting, auditing, transaction structuring, due diligence, and financial processes. Melinda specializes in advising clients with the transactional needs for mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, and joint venture formations and dissolutions. She has led numerous M&A teams, both foreign and domestic, on various acquisition and divestiture transactions serving both corporate and private equity clients. She has substantial M&A experience with companies across the energy value chain including upstream, midstream, downstream, and oilfield services. Additionally, she also has substantial experience with power and regulated utilities, including independent power producers, alternative energy, clean-tech, and water and waste water.


Melinda is a co-founder and original board member of the North Texas Chapter of Women’s Energy Network and served on the Houston Chapter’s Advisory Board as well as United Way of Greater Houston’s Women’s Council.


She graduated from the University of Colorado at Boulder and currently serves on the Advisory Board for CU’s Leeds School of Business and is a Trustee and Director for the University of Colorado Foundation.
