As a woman of color and prospective career changer trying to get into tech, I sometimes let imposter syndrome get the best of me. I’ve always had the impression that tech companies are more likely to hire wealthier, non-POC candidates from top schools even when experience sets candidates apart. And when POC are hired, they still have to face the uphill battle of proving themselves to their non-POC colleagues that they belong in their role and deserve it just as much as the next person. That being said, my question is this: how confident do you feel based on your own experiences and based on your company’s track record that the new D&I initiatives will not only hire diverse talent, but will actually foster spaces for them to flourish in these new roles?
