I am a transplant from another country in Southern USA. Socially or as co-workers women I've observed often pick up the habit of smiling and laughing a lot during conversations. I picked up this habit white working in the sales/service industry and I know I am always trying to inject smiles and laughter, in a way that feels natural to me. I am wondering though if I should consciously try and tone that down as I try to break into the tech industry. I'm blonde also and I sometimes wonder if the effect doesn't combine to make me seem like an airhead. Considering I want to work remotely I will be communicating with people from all over the country, if not the world. I want to garner respect based on my skills and not undermine myself.
