Question by Stephanie, Software Engineer Consulting
asked on 2020-09-15

How do you email or direct message someone random, looking to network for a job without seeming disingenuous or rude? What do you say as an opener? Also, which people / job titles should you target, say if you are looking at people on linkedIn? Is it better to target recruiters, people with the job title you want, or the people who might actually have the power to hire you? How do you figure out who has the power to hire you for the position you want?
