I'm a female working in the construction industry as a Senior Project Coordinator in the UK and often struggle finding the balance of being my authentic self, polite and helpful in an environment that demands I be hard. My politeness and general kind nature of wanting to help is often seen as my weakness. Thus, I'm often taken advantage of. When I do stand up for myself, I'm fearful of the reaction of my colleagues... Due to the above and continually taking on extra work to help out my teams, I feel exhausted and like I have no extra time for myself! Help!
