I struggle with wanting to re-enter the job market at my previous level of employment, with desiring to seek a less demanding job to allow for more flexibility. I find that my former job opportunities are now going to people half my age who will work for half my pay. But the jobs in my “pivot” industry won’t pay me because I have only been focused in this are for less than 2 years. Because I am 50+, jobs at a lower responsibility level don’t take me seriously. I would rather explain that I have a 9 year old at home and I’m a single Mom, but don’t volunteer that information while job hunting. Looking for advice.
