- how much will skills typically regress if one becomes a manager for 1 year? 2 years? 3? - is there any way to retain some level of technical contribution in a management role? if you've seen it, what makes it work? - what are the areas of team growth / management that you find yourself currently dealing with? is it what you expected when going into it? in what ways? - have you left a company b/c of the management? can you speak to the decision to leave -- was it work culture, technology stack/architecture, or something other than that or a combination of things? - Can you speak to a successful interaction and relationship building with management in growing the eng org? What were/are the building blocks in your experience? any that were unsuccessful? --> and preliminary warning signs?
