My empathy has gotten me in trouble at work in the past, getting feedback that I need to have a better balance of people needs vs business needs (told to me when I did not doc an employee after her 5 year old son was hit by a car and she had to miss work to care for him) - how do you navigate having a high level of empathy and prioritizing people over profits (which I fully admit that I do) and the perceptions that come with it, in a fast paced, tech focused space?
