This new job that I have lead me to get professional evaluation for Autism and learning disabilities. I was experiencing difficulties understanding this new role. I did disclose to my employer and I thought they would be understanding but now I’m now going through an development improvement plan with my employer. All I wanted was additional training, but my manager refused the request, but now I’m going through this plan where I am getting additional training, but part of the plan is that if I don’t improve I maybe let go by end of June. In practice I’m told by other managers who have done these improvement plan is that it’s a way to protect the company that they did all they could on their end, but basically when a company does this, you are on the way out. I’m in a weird position where my development plan doesn’t include accommodations because I have yet to receive the final results of my evaluations. How can development improvements plans provide space to have accommodations?
