The Global Business Optimization team has a simple mission: we turn massive amounts of data into actionable insights that drive business value. As part of the Global GBO Delivery team, the Analyst will help to deliver this vision to our regional teams and our Issuers, Merchants and Acquirers who are clients of Visa. In this role, you will use strong analytical skills, contextual business sense and a creative flair to solve real world business challenges for Visa issuing banks.
Robust automation, effective visualization, and both experience and understanding of how to utilize big data environments is critical. The ability to manage BAU reporting activities in parallel with projects and new initiatives having the adequate setting and balance of priorities is essential to the success of the role. Innovation and a willingness to challenge traditional paradigms are important to the success of the role.
Responsibilities
The Consultant, Global Business Optimization will be primarily responsible for developing automated, scalable, client-facing dashboards. The consultant derives analytic insights into client performance and helps to deliver those findings to external and internal stakeholders. Prior to completing an analysis, this role will formulate and source the necessary datasets from internal tools and platforms, rendering insights in compelling presentations and visualizations. Scaling up reporting dashboards to support multiple regions, Speed to execution, automation and driving process efficiencies is critical component of this role.
We are looking for candidates with a proven history of developing Tableau dashboards with high proficiency in SQL and other programming languages that can help accelerate commercialization, impact worldwide revenue goals, influence management priorities, and optimizes business investments.
Responsibilities
• Develop new and maintain existing dashboards that address the demands of GBO’s business and support commercialization efforts
• Use Hadoop/Hive and other database querying tools to connect directly in Tableau to generate powerful, scalable dashboards
• Creating client-facing quantitative analyses that demonstrate the value of Visa products and solutions
• Dashboard development (helping develop and optimize scalable, client-facing and internal dashboards to globally track client performance and sales progress)
• Generate powerful data visualizations that ‘tell a story’ thru the data
• Conducting industry/client research, identifying internal and external data resources to create custom analytics
• Analyzing client data and identifying preliminary trends and themes in the data
• Create user guides and training material so users understand how to leverage and use the tools
• Build, scale, replicate, automate and drive efficiencies for faster delivery and output of dashboards designed by regions
• Create and present analytic deliverables to external Visa clients, regional colleagues in the Global Business Optimization team, and other internal stakeholders with varying degrees of analytical and technical expertise
• Gain an understanding of root problems, define analytical objectives, and formalize data requirements for various types of analyses
• Combine and analyze disparate data sources and derive insights in a Big Data environment
• Proactively facilitate the overall analytic delivery strategy for the organization Work on projects across different regions simultaneously
• Compare client performance against industry best practices with a shrewd eye toward identifying performance and or profitability improvement opportunity
• Develop presentations of complex data and content for clients in an accurate, understandable, and engaging manner
A successful candidate will have demonstrated the ability to provide actionable insights and experience delivering high-caliber client facing dashboards using Tableau and SQL, build strong working relationships with Account Executives, and to interact with executive management.
Qualifications
• A minimum of 5 years of experience with a bachelors degree or at least 2 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or O years of work experience with a PhD, A 4-year college degree in a quantitative field, or 3+ years working in data engineering, analysis and/or insight delivery with a proven record of creating business value using data
• High level of proficiency manipulating data from a variety of sources - Big data skills (Hadoop, Hive, Spark) and/or SQL skills required; Unix/Shell/Python scripting with exposure to scheduling tools like Oozie and Airflow required; Machine learning skills is a plus
• Experience visualizing data with tools like Tableau; advanced Tableau skills are highly desired
• Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills are required
• Must be proficient in all MS Office applications with advanced Excel spreadsheet skills
• Visa experience or knowledge of the payments industry is a plus
Preferred Qualifications
• 6 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor's Degree or 4 or more years of relevant experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or up to 3 years of relevant experience with a PhD
• Experience visualizing data with tools like Tableau, advanced Tableau skills
• Visa experience or knowledge of the payments industry
