Tax Manager – Business Tax Services (Federal, Private Wealth, Financial Services, Flow-Through Entities)
Location: Multiple U.S. Locations (Hybrid Work Model)
Position Summary
Deloitte is seeking experienced Tax Managers to join their diverse Business Tax Services practice. This unique opportunity combines leadership and technical roles across four core areas: Corporate Tax, Private Wealth, Financial Services, and Flow-Through Entities (S corporations and partnerships). You’ll provide compliance and consulting services to a wide range of clients, including global corporations, financial institutions, ultra-high-net-worth individuals, and closely-held businesses. Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage federal tax compliance and consulting engagements across corporate, individual, fiduciary, and flow-through entities.
- Advise clients on tax implications related to transactions, restructuring, income tax accounting (ASC 740), and tax controversy matters.
- Review and oversee preparation of complex tax returns, workpapers, and supporting analyses.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to clients in industries such as banking, investment management, private equity, and family office services.
- Manage engagement teams, workflows, budgets, billing, and client communications.
- Train and mentor junior staff, providing guidance on technical issues and professional development.
- For Flow-Through specialization: Leverage expertise in partnership and S corporation tax rules; exposure to C corporation issues is also available.
- For Private Wealth specialization: Analyze trust documents, estate/gift tax considerations, and multi-generational planning strategies.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
- 5+ years of relevant public accounting/tax consulting experience.
- One of the following credentials:
- CPA (if eligible)
- Licensed Attorney
- Enrolled Agent
- CFA or CFP certification
- Ability to work in a hybrid model (2–3 days/week onsite) and travel up to 25%.
- Experience managing projects, people, and clients in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred:
- Advanced degree (MST, JD, LLM, or MAcc).
- Prior experience with Big 4 or large CPA firms.
- Familiarity with tax software, fund accounting, and emerging tax technologies.
- Industry-specific knowledge in financial services, private wealth, or closely held entities.
- Strong research, presentation, writing, and interpersonal skills.
The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Deloitte, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $84,980 to $193,440.You may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
