Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) in Sunnyvale, CA is seeking to a hire Manager Training 2. The candidate will be responsible for managing, designing and delivering programs to train all levels of personnel. Develops tests and visual aids, conducts training classes, and develops criteria for evaluating effectiveness of training activities. Keeps abreast of training and development research: learning theory, motivation theory, and new materials, methods, and techniques. Develops in-house programs and practices to identify developmental needs, including preparing personnel for more responsible positions and increasing effectiveness in present assignments. May evaluate and/or oversee contractors or vendors to develop and/or administer training programs. May be responsible for development of e-learning programs for personnel on manual & automated activities. They will also be responsible for developing training for equipment including mechanical assembly, machining and various skills across the site. They will work with subject matter experts to create appropriate training.
The ideal candidate is a motivated professional who self-initiates to apply knowledge of adult learning principles utilizing innovative solutions that meet organizational educational needs. This training professional will collaborate with training staff and subject matter experts to identify, plan, create, design, test, implement, deliver, support, and maintain effective and engaging learning opportunities and training activities through a variety of modalities (self-paced, in-person, mobile, virtual, video, job aids, microlearning, articles, etc.). This individual will have experience in facilitating hands-on learning and improving performance by creating, using, and managing appropriate learning theories, cognitive and technological processes, and resources. Must work collaboratively in a team environment across manufacturing and engineering disciplines to accomplish mission goals. Must excel in a fast-paced mission-focused environment. Must be able to meet rapid delivery timelines.

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.

Areas of Responsibility include:
- Manage the training operations strategy as part of the Mission Systems sector team
- Work with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to identify specific training needs and develop solutions
- Identify the best approach to training requirements including, but not limited to hardware, software, simulations, job aids, microlearning, articles, videos, course assessment, examinations, and computer assisted and adaptive learning environments, testing, behavior-based assessment, and performance
- Develop range of instructional materials and products for technology-based courses, including online, mobile, immersive and performance support (e.g., self-paced guides, microlearning, case studies, job aids, and evaluations; scenario-based storyboards)
- Design and develop curricula to support program implementation across targeted audiences.
- Demonstrate and utilize effective needs analysis, project management, course development, and evaluation skills
- Create and analyze assessments to evaluate learning effectiveness and instructional improvement opportunities, including pre-tests, post-tests, and knowledge checks
- Support train-the-trainer to qualify others for content delivery
- Adapt and present material to various knowledge levels through excellent written and verbal communication
- Manage a team and influence strong performance and alignment with the sector performance goals as it relates to skills enhancement and knowledge transfer
- Bachelor's degree with 9+ years; Master's with 7+ years of experience
- 3+ years of team lead/managing people
- Experience leading matrixed multidiscipline teams
- Experience in collaborating and building partnerships across multiple functions
- Exceptional communication skills both verbal and written

- General knowledge of electromechanical machines and assembly systems, robotic systems, mechanized material handling systems, and other mechanical drive, hydraulic and pneumatic systems used in manufacturing processes.
- Exposure to advanced fixturing, cutting and mechanical assembly tooling technology. Familiarity with the capabilities of common assembly hand tools and assembly practices.
- Experience developing instructor guides, student manuals, workbooks, job aids, and related materials.
- Experience with training lifecycle process
- Strong working knowledge of technical training development
- Strong passion for developing people and driving organizational success
- Hands on experience with manufacturing shop floor training
- Applicable manufacturing experience for machinery and products in skills areas
- Self-initiator with independence to acquire and maintain technical skills for professional development
- 3-5 years teaching experience (will consider military experience) including designing and developing formal course curriculums, establishing workforce development training needs, developing goals and objectives, developing training programs, and applying the ISD process
- Experience in selecting appropriate instructional methods such as individual training, group instruction, self-study, lectures, demonstration-performance, problem-based learning, student-centered learning, and guided discussion
