Writes, rewrites and/or edits technical documents such as technical procedure manuals, user manuals, programming manuals, service manuals, operational specifications, and related technical publications to communicate clearly and effectively technical specifications and instructions to a wide range of audiences. Acquires subject knowledge by interviewing product developers, observing performance of production methods, referring to technical specifications, blueprints, engineering illustrations, and trade journals. Oversees preparation of illustrative materials, selecting drawings, sketches, diagrams and charts. Conducts quality review of materials.

Northrop Grumman is seeking a Technical Editor/Writer. This position will be located at our Defense Systems Sector located in Clearfield, UT.

This support staff position may participate in the following responsibilities:
  • Writes, rewrites and/or edits technical documents such as technical procedure manuals, user manuals, programming manuals, service manuals, operational specifications, and related technical publications to communicate clearly and effectively technical specifications and instructions to a wide range of audiences.
  • Reviews weapon system documentation, such as technical orders, user manuals, engineering drawings, production specifications and interface documents to support research by sustainment engineering.
  • Establishes and prepares change orders to documentation according to USAF requirements.
  • Analyzes proposed changes to documentation, developed by others, to determine proper format and change requirements of the customer are met.
  • Works under general supervision. Work is reviewed regularly for soundness of judgment and overall adequacy and accuracy.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 2 years experience with a Bachelor's degree.1 year of experience with Masters. 7 years of experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Demonstrated experience with MS Office suite of tools (i.e. Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat PDF.
  • Demonstrated experience in technical writing skills with a focus on accuracy and consistency of both technical information and documentation layout
  • US Citizenship and must be able to obtain a SECRET security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with USAF technical orders and engineering drawings.
  • Experience with Arbortext, UltraEdit and SDL publishing software.
  • Knowledge of Govt. MIL-STDs and Specifications
  • Ability to perform complex tasks independently without appreciable direction.
  • Ability to adhere to internal processes, and standards for quality and style.
Salary Range: $45,500 USD - $68,300 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
