Office of Global Ethics & Integrity - Corporate Counsel
We are looking for a Corporate Counsel to join our Global Ethics and Integrity (GE&I) team. We seek a talented and collaborative ethics and compliance professional with investigations, advisory, policy, and training experience in high-risk regions. The ideal candidate should be willing to take on new challenges and grow our regional team presence. This member will join GE&I in our Tokyo, Japan office handling ethics and integrity issues for Japan and collaborating with the regional GE&I team on regional tasks; they will report into a Senior Manager, Corporate Counsel GE&I based in India.
Responsibilities with oversight from the JAPAC Head of GE&I and Senior Manager, GE&I:
Conduct investigations of non-HR-related Code of Conduct issues in Japan and JAPAC, including data analysis and report drafting
Advise internal business partners on ethics-related issues
Draft and lead trainings on various policies and topics owned by GE&I
Support other investigations, trainings, policy rollouts in the region and globally
Perform compliance risk assessments and policy gap analyses in Japan and JAPAC region
Enhance anti-bribery, anti-corruption, anti-fraud, global trade, public sector sales, and political law programs
Perform due diligence of partners, suppliers, vendors, and other third parties
Evaluate and approve external Gifts & Entertainment and donation requests
Identify and review potential conflicts of interest between Salesforce and external parties
Support the growth of the team and the GE&I program.
Drive operational efficiency with a focus on scaling
Work cross-functionally and build relationships with various teams, including sales, alliances, business technology, and various operations teams
Assist management in identifying and mitigating compliance risks, enhancing and implementing compliance monitoring efforts and fostering a compliance culture
Required Skills and Experience:
Law degree from an accredited law school with a minimum of a Masters of Law degree
7 to 12 years (PQE) of corporate law firm or significant in-house ethics and compliance experience, with a focus on white-collar, anti-corruption and FCPA investigation experience preferred.
Knowledge and familiarity with the US Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, UK Bribery Act and other anti-corruption laws and regulations
Impeccable work ethic that includes honesty, integrity, humility, discipline, professionalism, transparency, collaborative spirit and accountability.
Superior organizational and analytical skills and a high level of attention to detail.
Absolute discretion and confidentiality regarding sensitive information and professional activities.
Knowledge and familiarity with various government procurement vehicles and processes in the region desired.
Ability to work simultaneously on a wide range of projects as part of the global team.
Strong written and verbal and communication skills in English and Japanese (any other language would be a plus).
Strong interpersonal, written and communication skills, including in public speaking and writing.
Exceptional analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving abilities
Demonstrated success independently managing workload, priorities, and deadlines with limited oversight and in a fast-paced work environment
Basic business IT skills, including proficiency with Office Suite/Google Workspace, collaboration apps, etc.
Experience with Salesforce products, especially CRM would be advantageous
