The Technical Communications team is hiring a Technical Writer to support product documentation for the Incentives team. This role involves working closely with support, engineering, QA, and design teams to produce product documentation and UX copy for medium-sized product features. The Technical Writer must meet engineering and release deadlines and provide release notes for assigned squads.
This position will help maintain content commitments while also assisting the Support team with knowledge base articles. The goal is to enhance the Zendesk AI bot experience through a robust documentation set. The role also includes reviewing and improving current documentation and knowledge infrastructure to enhance content delivery to end users.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in the documentation lifecycle for products and features.
- Contribute to the UX design process by producing microcopy.
- Adhere to style guide standards for all Varicent products.
- Improve existing documentation and knowledge base content.
- Translate complex concepts into clear, user-friendly content.
- Collaborate with support analysts to create and update knowledge base articles.
- Assist in evaluating and implementing content delivery technologies.
- Manage time effectively across multiple product teams with varying deadlines.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
- 3+ years of experience in technical writing, product documentation, or UX/microcopy in English for an international audience.
- Strong portfolio demonstrating technical writing skills.
- Ability to conduct research and interview subject matter experts.
- Experience with authoring tools, AI writing/proofreading tools, web technologies, or in-app help tools is a plus.
- Strong collaboration and efficiency-driven mindset.
- Curiosity and eagerness to learn new concepts.
Performance-Based Success Criteria
1-3 Months:
- Learn internal processes within the engineering department.
- Familiarize with authoring, design, and website tools.
- Begin ramping up on at least one project area within the Incentives product.
4-6 Months:
- Contribute to improving style guides and documentation.
- Take ownership of at least two project areas within the Incentives product.
7+ Months:
- Work independently on assigned projects with minimal supervision.
- Fully integrate into cross-departmental engineering processes.
- Master authoring tools and complete relevant career development coursework.
