Northrop Grumman Defense Systems seeks a Manager, Systems Engineering 2 to be a manager of managers and lead fast-paced SATCOM SME and Cyber teams to support our Ground Satellite Communications Systems (GCSC) unit located in Orlando, FL. This role is only a 10% allocation of tasking as a Systems Engineering Manager within the engineering department with the remainder being direct technical program support.
The ideal candidate demonstrates a broad skill set that is balanced between interpersonal, business, and technical capabilities. You can collaborate within and across teams to accomplish goals. You are committed to ethics, integrity, and innovation while challenging traditional ways of doing business. You have excellent verbal and written communication skills and you are comfortable engaging with the internal and external customers.
This position will be located, in office, in Orlando, FL or Colorado Springs, CO.

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.

Responsibilities include:
- Managing and guiding Satellite Communications Subject Matter Expert Engineers and Cyber Engineers
- Setting objectives and monitoring and reviewing yearly progress
- Workload management for direct reports
- Recruiting, interviewing, and hiring
- Semi-annual performance assessments of team members
- Assisting team members with career development
- Collaboration with other Section Leads and Engineering Managers, supporting overall execution of Satellite Communication based programs
- 9 years of experience in any combination of Systems/Software/Cyber Engineering, Integration and Test engineering disciplines with a bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline or related field OR 7 years of experience with a Masters' degree in a STEM discipline or related field
- Full knowledge of systems engineering development lifecycle and extensive technical expertise
- Exceptional leadership skills to coordinate collaboration across engineering teams
- Active DoD Secret security clearance investigated within the last 5 years or under Active Continuous Evaluation (CE).
- Engineering background in Systems/Software/Cyber Engineering including deriving hardware and software requirements and designing, developing, and testing systems
- Experience in recruiting and developing top engineering talent
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated aptitude for analytical problem decomposition, root cause analysis, solution development, solution implementation, metric development, and metric evaluation
- Excellent interpersonal and team collaboration skills
- An ability to showcase the company's capabilities to existing and potential customers to support business development activities
- Experience working in an Agile framework
- Experience with U.S. Government contracts
