JD - Risk Consulting Associate

Analytical & Data Services team provides an integrated suite of data and analytical services and solutions based on RMS’ catastrophe models, that global insurance and reinsurance clients rely on for making decisions on underwriting, portfolio management, capital management and risk transfer. The team works with exposure data of a majority of Fortune 500 corporate accounts, analyzing the quality of data, assessing clients’ exposure to catastrophic events, and providing insights on loss drivers and distributions, using RMS models. Analysts on the team specialize in data interpretation, data analytics, data quality, financial policy structures, and a deep understanding of sophisticated catastrophe models of perils including earthquake, hurricane, and terrorism.
We are looking for self-driven and independent analysts who are keen to learn about catastrophe insurance market and bring their own skills, experience and enthusiasm to move the group forward in its mandate to become a truly indispensable service for our clients.
Objective of the Risk Consulting Associate
As a Risk Consulting Associate, the applicant will be highly involved in the manipulation of client’s data and quantification of associated risk using a variety of database tools, analyzing and interpreting data using RMS technologies and trademark software products as well as working with other RMS departments and directly with clients.
Key Accountabilities & Deliverables
• Demonstrate good understanding of catastrophe modelling after structured training.
• Learn best practices in catastrophe modelling and reflect this in your day-to-day work.
• Perform end-to-end account modelling including exposure preparation and enrichment and/ or Cedant/ Portfolio analysis.
• Participate actively in your project activities and maintain highest standards of quality of work.
• Demonstrate understanding of RMS Products including new products as they are released.
• Demonstrate understanding about the focus markets for RMS and the reasons why clients use the different RMS products and services.
• Contribute towards and compile content for internal or external client reports.
• Perform meticulous project documentation of all aspects of a project, particularly focusing on the rationale for decisions and exceptions.
• Provide input for process improvements in at least one client project which addresses a prior or foreseeable concern or increases efficiency.
• Support the client in understanding the output of analysis, comparing different model results and explain to the client.
Skills:
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Enthusiasm to work in a team.
• Preferred: Good Database and data manipulation skills - working knowledge of Excel, Access, and SQL; VBA or VB.Net is an added advantage.
• Knowledge of Python and R is desirable.
