We are building and supporting large scale systems in the cloud using a wide span of cutting-edge technologies to deliver scalable systems for our clients. You will play an important role in a high velocity team that manage their own sprints, owning the infrastructure for one or more of our products. You will have worked on scalable AWS systems either in direct to customer or B2B models for publicly available sites, scripting infrastructure as code and used to deploying through multiple integration environments through test and QA processes. We are broadly based across the world and believe in flexibility, however if you want the full office experience our Winnersh facility provides a highly polished environment to work in – as well as colleagues to enjoy the day with. We do encourage getting together as a team and will expect occasional visits to the office even for fully remote members.
Role Overview:
Working within Connected Aviation Solutions team, you will own one or more AWS hosted infrastructures delivering products to our commercial customers in a B2B model. You will manage, enhance and troubleshoot our AWS environments, ensuring that as we develop new features, we are following best-in-breed industry patterns for continuous integration and deployment of new product/infrastructure releases.
The successful candidate has worked on scalable AWS environments for publicly available websites. They have experience in managing Kubernetes clusters (EKS) and have worked with systems hosted in both NoSQL and SQL based databases. You will have a software engineering background or a good level of coding skills in either .NET or Typescript in relation to managing infrastructure as code using AWS CDK.
The team deliver using an agile pattern with our customers so you should be used to working on features for continuous test and release.
Teamwork is a must - you should be willing to work collaboratively with your colleagues across the world to deliver great systems rather than just a great individual feature.
Day to Day:
Manage AWS infrastructure for a saleable web application delivered across the globe.
Own one or more AWS environments – lead how they are best put together and architected.
Work with other expert teams throughout Collins to ensure our environments are safe and secure.
Manage and enhance a Kubernetes cluster, on AWS CDK, CloudFormation, ArgoCD, Helm.
Writing and owning infrastructure as code in Bash and either TypeScript or .NET.
Bash scripting of new parts of infrastructure (or suggesting other ways to bring infrastructure to life)
Reporting and monitoring using Grafana and Prometheus
Backlog refinements, sprint reviews, sprint planning as a member of the team
