Primary Responsibilities:
- Deeply understand Optum’s clinical content, products, services, and clinical programs
- Own and drive creation of clinical key performance indicators to measure performance for client-based reporting around Disease Management, Case/Care Management, Utilization Management, and Appeals/Grievances programs
- Lead a team of data analysts and clinical informatic analysts and work closely with clinicians, clinical program leaders, data experts, to support data-driven clinical program and pilot design, monitoring, reporting, evaluation, and actionable insights
- Establish clinical analytics standards, key methodology, and process (including QC, documentation, and productization) to support clinical programs
- Identify, prioritize, and evaluate program opportunities using qualitative and quantitative methods to improve financial trend, quality, and patient experience
- Identify target patient and provider populations for analysis
- Define outcome and success metrics
- Continuously evaluate clinical program pilots to surface insights for new program opportunities and refine targets
- Ensure the team's deliverables are timely, accurate, and of high quality
- Represent the team's work and insights in front of internal and external stakeholders
- Provide people management and technical/professional mentorship
- Analyze clinical workflows and apply reporting principles
- In depth knowledge of Real-World Data assets, such as claims, EHRs, registries
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to work with others to achieve objectives
- Create innovative methods to understand disease progression, risk factors, and predict outcomes of interest
- Involved in engineering and/or development activities to ensure timely delivery of objectives
- Participate in all Subject matter expert (SME) activities and help on any functional testing activities. Build and maintain effective working relationship with cross-functional team(s)
- Directly work with clinical users and translate the business requirements into technical solutions
- Contribute to the Clinical Analytics future roadmap/strategy by constantly evaluating the latest tools/technologies in the Clinical domain
- Create required documentation detailed design/technological impact analysis based on the functional specifications
- Champion the standardization and simplification of design, minimizing the custom solutions

Required Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience within Health Plan, Clinical Operational Reporting experience
- 5+ years of leadership experience leading a team of data analysts, report developers and clinical informatics leads
- 5+ years of experience leading clinical business requirements gathering into technical reporting requirements
- 5+ years of experience defining outcome and success metrics related to clinical programs
- Experience and ability to identify, prioritize, and evaluate program opportunities using qualitative and quantitative methods
- Experience working in a matrixed environment
- Knowledge of clinical analytics standards, key methodology, and process
- Proficiency in evaluating clinical program pilots and extracting insights for new program opportunities
- Deep understanding of clinical content, products, services, and clinical programs
- Proven ability to work closely with clinicians, clinical program leaders, data scientists, and actuaries
- Proven solid analytical skills and ability to support data-driven clinical program and pilot design, monitoring, reporting, evaluation, and actionable insights
- Proven solid communication skills and ability to represent team's work and insights to internal and external stakeholders
- Ability to travel up to 25% when required
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in an Agile development environment
- Hands-on experience with Power BI

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
