The Sr. Strategic Product Manager will provide strategic and technical product management and leadership focused on platform / technical capability development in the Value Based Care space. The role will be accountable for collaborating closely with multiple stakeholders across solutions owners, capability leads, engineering teams, and other stakeholders to both define product strategy & business cases content; and translating that product strategy into detailed requirements for prototyping and final development by the engineering team. This role will specifically be focused on supporting Optum’s Care Management platform, a workflow platform/tool focused on supporting care transitions, high risk care management, medication management, and quality opportunities.
The ideal candidate will be a well-rounded product manager who is able to effectively translate strategic business opportunities into effective technical platform design, has a keen ability to work between business and technology teams to bridge the gaps, and has 5+ years of experience in product design, preferably in a healthcare setting.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Create product strategy content that describe business cases, high-level use cases, functional requirements, and parent feature sets
- Translate product strategy into detailed requirements for prototyping and final development by engineering teams
- Manage products through the product development lifecycle, inclusive of capital budgeting & planning
- Applies understanding of technology to influence and assess feasibility of solutions
- Continuously prioritize to balance resources & budgets with delivery expectations and timelines
- Understand and help to clarify both business needs and technology challenges
- Identify strategic opportunities to advance existing capabilities and generate new ideas to enhance customer experience and drive growth
- Interface with key internal and external partners to understand market needs and challenges, and to establish buy-in for the product vision
- Collaborate closely with solution owners, capability leads, engineering, and other key stakeholders in the development, QA, and release of functional platform capabilities

Required Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in the Product Management (i.e., new product development, new product launches, roadmap creation, SaaS product development, platform development)
- 5+ years of experience in Platform Architecture (i.e., product integrations, product engineering, data modeling, data architecture, or product architecture)
- Experience working independently on product strategy, which is not fully defined and managing complex product management scenarios
- Understanding of the health ecosystem and how payers and providers are working, how they work together, and how technology can support them as they move towards value-based care
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint (with demonstrated presentation skills), Visio, and Project
- Ability to analyze complex systems and comprehend the complexity and dependencies
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and handle multiple/detail-oriented tasks
- Ability to influence at all levels of the organization
- Willingness to travel as needed
Preferred Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience working with healthcare products and data
- Project Management software experience
- Experience in any combination of the following areas: advanced analytics including machine learning and artificial intelligence, data science, data enrichment, or business intelligence

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
