Our Electrical Engineering team puts the spark into the full hardware development lifecycle, from concept to production. It takes experts in system architecture definition, design, analysis, prototyping, sourcing & the debugging and validation of layouts or routes to deliver state-of-the-art products for a changing world. We work closely with designers, cross-functional teams within Dell and suppliers to make sure electronic designs meet a range of requirements, including schedule, feature set, functionality and quality, as well as industry standards.
Key Responsibilities

  • The primary responsibility for this position is to develop, maintain and execute engineering and statistical models used in the analysis of Product Quality and Reliability on Dell's Server, Storage and Networking Lines of Businesses. Requires proficiency in both inferential and predictive statistics.

Essential Requirements

  • BS Statistics minimum, MS Statistics preferred
  • Black Belt credentials highly desired
  • Minimum 2 years of reliability engineering experience
  • Product development engineering experience
  • Sound engineering judgment relating to product reliability
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written

Additional duties include working with system reliability engineers, development teams, cross-functional teams and suppliers to ensure product reliability meets or exceeds corporate goals.  Review supplier design analysis and test reports for compliance to Dell requirements. Analyze field reliability data and initiate failure analysis to understand factors limiting the reliability of products. Develop test methodologies as needed for evaluating additional features and needs based upon lessons learned.

  • Probability Concepts (Composition, Event Relationships)
  • Tie Set and Cut Set Methods
  • Properties and Applications of Probability Distributions
  • Collecting and Summarizing Data (Random sampling, Sequential Sampling, Stratified Sampling)
  • Design of Experiments (Randomized Blocks, Factorial, Fractional Factorials, Surface Response Methodology, D-Optimal)
  • Designing and conducting process capability studies
  • Statistical inference experience (Hypothesis testing, Confidence Interval construction, Power and Sample size determination)
  • Multiple and Linear Regression Analysis
  • Parameteric and Nonparameteric Tests
  • Statistical Process Control
  • Monte Carlo Simulation experience
