Reporting to the Senior Director of Accounting & Financial Systems the Staff Accountant will process accounts payable, record accounts receivable and administer finance related payroll processing. You will prepare accounts payable, cash management and revenue journal entries and system imports. You will also communicate with employees and third parties about financial events as well as maintain departmental files and records.

What you will do:

  • Prepare the Monthly Budget to Variance Reports and analyses.
  • Work with budget owners to identify discrepancies and resolve them.
  • Assist in the preparation of the annual budget.
  • Input revenue into Raiser’s Edge, insuring data is complete and accurate.
  • Work with Database Manager on revenue reporting.
  • Oversee maintenance and development of systems, acting as the point of contact for financial systems testing and upgrades.
  • Be responsible for accounts payable, cash management and accounts receivable processing.
  • Process Annual IRS Form 1099.
  • Administer payroll processing and prepare payroll journal entries and account reconciliations.
  • Record organization’s receipts and enter journal entries into Financial Edge.
  • Engage in special projects such as Financial Edge configuration, report and query creation/maintenance projects.

You will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business from an accredited college or university (or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience).
  • 2+ years’ experience in accounting, preferably in a non-profit or foundation environment.
  • Mastery in Microsoft Office software and proficiency in financial accounting software/systems with advanced mastery of Excel.
  • General bookkeeping and accounting principles including accounts payable and receivable processing.
  • Detailed understanding of general financial management concepts.
  • Skilled in records management and general business principles.
  • Experience with Financial Edge, Raiser’s Edge or similar accounting system.
  • Availability to attend in-person meetings and events at least monthly is Los Angeles.

Salary Description:

55,000 - 65,000
