We design and develop electronic and electro-mechanical or systems-orientated products, conduct feasibility studies on engineering proposals and prepare installation, operation and maintenance specifications and instructions. Key Responsibilities

Dell is seeking a Systems Engineer to engage cross functional teams as a member of Portfolio Platform Engineering (PPE).  The PPE team leads the portfolio development model by optimizing common portfolio elements through front end, develop, and go to market activities.  In this high visibility position you will be required to:

  • Partner with our platform teams, portfolio systems engineering teams, program management, and various engineering extended teams
  • Regularly collaborate with experienced development teams from concept to market launch
  • Serve as a local advocate/representative for remote platform development teams
  • Identify potential areas of optimization and/or efficiency improvements across engineering development and extended teams
  • Execute on identified optimizations/improvements by proposing changes, integrating feedback from teams, and driving change into processes, tools, etc.
  • Effectively document and communicate optimizations/improvements to teams

Essential Requirements

  • BS in Electrical or Computer Engineering
  • 5+ years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and work experience; 8+ years preferred
  • Demonstrates an understanding of x86 server system architecture. Including an understanding of hardware and software interactions, and ability to apply this understanding to resolve issues.
  • Understanding of appropriate technologies, vendor products and competitor's offerings. Ability to analyze options for critical design elements and features, and determine optimum selection.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional development teams
  • Ability to manage a complex project and produce deliverables in a timely and accurate manner
  • Track record of delivery against deadlines is required
  • Persuasive communication, relationship-building, and influencing skills
  • Capability for innovative and creative output based on interpretation and analysis that improve business performance and contribute to corporate goals and strategic intent. -   Opportunity/risk analyses -   Cost/benefit analyses
