As a Wordpress Product Manager for Hearst Television, you’ll bring together your excitement for local storytelling with your honed skills in digital product management to help drive the product roadmap for one of the largest news and media organizations in the country. We own and operate 33 television stations and two radio stations, reaching 21 million U.S. television households across 39 states. Our stations operate web and mobile platforms which reach 40 million unique visitors every month. We create memorable consumer experiences on iOS, Android, OTT and websites in addition to ensuring a smooth workflow for our content teams via an in-house CMS.

You’ll help support our growing suite of Wordpress-powered sites in all phases of the product lifecycle. You’re comfortable working alongside engineering and program colleagues to tackle challenges together and maintain forward momentum. You can synthesize technical documentation with your vision for user experience. If you know how to break down complex end goals into iterations that make sense for developers and stakeholders-- you’re the teammate we’re looking for!

  • Write requirements, refine use cases and steer Wordpress development
  • You’ll support stakeholder needs on the platform. Your knowledge helps troubleshoot issues and recommend solutions -- be them off-the-shelf or custom development.
  • Writing tickets for custom Wordpress development (e.g. plugins), with requirements founded in your knowledge of the WP ecosystem and functionality
  • Thinking big picture about balancing Wordpress best practices with platform flexibility.
  • Vetting of third-party plugins or solutions.
  • Staying in-the-know on Wordpress core developments, changes and releases.
  • Deliver products on time by working alongside project, program and engineering team members
  • Summarize performance of product initiatives to stakeholders by analyzing data and analytics
Basic Qualifications
  • College degree preferred
  • At least 1 year of experience delivering results on Wordpress-backed systems
  • Familiarity with Wordpress page builders like Beaver Builder or Elementor
  • Experience with Wordpress plugin & permissions management, caching strategies and theme development
  • Understanding of the Wordpress REST API
  • Ability and willingness to learn and apply new skills required to excel in the role
  • Strong problem framing and solving skills; quantitative and analytical abilities
  • Strong ability to plan and manage numerous processes, tasks, and projects simultaneously
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
