ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Are you someone with high attention to detail who likes to understand why stuff breaks?  As PAX Lab’s Failure Analysis Engineer, you will test and/or troubleshoot products in our FA Lab, working from written and verbal instructions, engineering change notices, drawings and established operation procedures. You will work directly with hardware and manufacturing engineers in support of new product development as well as field returns.

As the PAX Failure Analysis Engineer, you will:

  • Be responsible for electrical and mechanical component-level troubleshooting, fault reproduction, and failure analysis
  • Assemble and disassemble products, conduct visual mechanical inspection
  • Document and report failure analysis results
  • Identify product improvement opportunities
  • Manage the flow of materials within the FA process
  • Oversee and coordinate with Lab Manager to ensure SOP, training, and maintenance requirements are established and executed properly on specialist FA equipment
  • Track and archive failure analysis samples

WHAT WE LOOK FOR IN YOU

  • Four years of experience in a Failure Analysis role
  • Clear understanding of electronics and able to read and understand schematic diagrams
  • Experienced in product teardown and sample preparation techniques
  • Experienced with the use of test equipment, e.g., microscope, multi-meter, oscilloscope
  • Knowledge of polymers and their performance characteristics
  • Knowledge of heat transfer fundamentals
  • Basic knowledge of analytical techniques and skilled at problem-solving and deductive reasoning
  • Demonstrated experience troubleshooting and conducting root cause analysis
  • Experienced with chemical handling
  • Demonstrated ability to complete tests and resolve problems in a self-directed and timely manner and to manage multiple projects at once
  • Ability to follow documented procedures and processes
  • Domestic and international travel up to 20%

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Physical Sciences
