Technical Product Owner Overview:

Clarus Commerce is searching for a Technical Product Owner who is highly motivated and collaborative with an entrepreneurial spirit. Reporting to the Director of Program Management, this role is best suited for an individual who has product curiosity in a fun and fast-paced environment. If you are someone who has worked in a Product Management or Technology Department, has an “Operational or Technical Mindset”, then this is the role for you. You will join a highly skilled agile team of software engineers leading them from concept to delivery, setting the vision, solving some of the industry’s most exciting problems, and making hard decisions to meet key performance indicators.

Responsibilities of the Technical Product Owner:

  • Technical Product Ownership. You’ve been the heart, mind, and voice of the customer for 3-7 years and you’re ready to use your technical background to bridge the gap between the product and technical development.
  • Have an Agile mindset. You thrive on collaboration, adding value, increased efficiency, and adaptability.
  • Contribute. You collaborate to define the product vision and own the product roadmap and backlog; then host planning meetings and communicate the vision to both business and technical stakeholders.
  • Translate. You enjoy translating technical requirements from a customer into user stories.
  • People skills. You will work with business stakeholders, software engineers, product owners, analysts, implementations teams, third parties, and senior management.
  • Own product roadmap and backlog and communicate alignment to maximize the release of value.
  • Refine product specifications with software engineers and stakeholders, answering specific questions about acceptance criteria.
  • Review delivery (demos) and validate that they meet the short and long-term vision for the product.

Skills and Experience of the Technical Product Owner:
  • 3-7 years of quantitative, technical, or operational experience with mix of business, analytical, and IT knowledge
  • 3-7 years of story writing, business analyst, system analyst, or product ownership experience
  • Must be a self-starter and capable of multi-tasking with strong operational and problem-solving skills
  • Critical and logical thinker while being hyper-focused on the details
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with focused ability to present complex operational/technical concepts to various types/levels of audiences
  • Experience with project management tools such as Jira, flow chart tools such as LucidCharts, and database or reporting tools such as SQL or Tableau
