Minimum qualifications:

  • JD or Certified Public Accountant.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 9 years of experience in employment tax in an accounting firm, law firm, and/or a corporate tax department, or relevant industry experience.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience working with teams on multi-country mergers and acquisitions agreements, both pre/post-close.
  • Experience with process improvements and project management.
  • Knowledge of employment tax laws and regulatory requirements in the United States, including experience dealing with equity, compensation, and benefits tax and planning.
  • Knowledge of compensation and benefits matters, including equity plan development and 409A rules.
  • Ability to be flexible with changing task priorities and work situations with detail oriented, analytical, and adaptability skills.
  • Verbal, written communication, and relationship builder skills. Ability to work independently, as well as on a team.

Made up of smart, perceptive Googlers with a flair for domestic, international, and sales and use tax, the knowledge and expertise of this team runs deep. You have years of experience in this field and an extensive knowledge of those tax issues most relevant to internet companies. While we don't give our Googlers individual tax advice, you make it easy for Googlers to get what they need to make good tax decisions. The Global Employment Tax Mergers and Acquisitions Manager is a key member of the Google Global Employment Tax Team. In this role, you will lead global acquisitions, transactions, and special projects to support Employment Tax compliance and strategy by successfully teaming across functions and regions.

From developing forward-thinking analysis to generating management reports to scaling our automated financial processes, the Finance organization is an important partner and advisor to the business.

  • Work with Google and our Bets to help manage employment tax and ancillary tax-related compensation issues across various regions.
  • Oversee global mergers and acquisitions matters, including strategy development, review of documents, and due diligence for employment tax, equity, and compensation purposes. Assist with post-agreement integration activities for employment tax purposes.
  • Develop relationships and collaborate with cross-functional leadership by partnering with other tax and finance colleagues to review and advise on various transactions for employment tax and tax-related compensation purposes, including new or revised equity and compensation plans and strategies and company reorganizations.
  • Manage regional network of third-party employment tax consultants to ensure timely tax advice, great service, and support.
  • Conduct tax research and provide recommendations. Maintain records, documentation, and develop processes and procedures with a focus on continuous improvement and automation.
