Calm is growing rapidly and is looking for someone who can help level up the Finance team by bringing accounting best practices that will allow us to scale calmly and efficiently. The ability to partner closely with our external accountants, auditors, and other partners is critical. A good understanding of start-up accounting infrastructure, the ability to identify process gaps and excitement at the prospect of developing roadmaps for future success and developing best in class systems and processes will be extremely desirable.

  • Own relationship with external accountants, documenting current processes and beginning the process of bringing some items of the close in-house
  • Support audit for 2018 and 2019 by reviewing and performing all account reconciliations and related correcting journal entries
  • Assist in answering the Auditors questions and pulling samples as needed
  • Partner with and identify external partners to advise on and complete technical memo’s
  • Document Procure-to-Pay process and assist in bi-weekly pay runs, ensuring consistency and accuracy in payments and cash management and tracking
  • Drive the accounting close process down, closing revenue by Day 5 and Opex by Day 8
  • Manage AP close process, leveraging Gappify software for accruals, ensuring accuracy
  • Review, enhance and take over from external accounting firm the account recon process
  • Partner with AP to document all existing processes and recurring tasks
  • Assist in Adhoc requests such as tax and other miscellaneous requests
  • Develop a process for consolidating International subsidiary in excel until system rollout
  • Participate and drive the successful evaluation and implementation of a new ERP system
  • Prepare in a timely manner financial statement flux analysis for all financial statements
  • Review Payroll JE’s and on-boarding process to ensure accuracy and completeness
  • Become the subject matter expert on the expense reimbursement process and controls
  • Be the trusted and loved business partner for all things Accounting
  • Assist in 409a, equity management, SOX readiness, taxes and treasury as needed
  • Review revenue contracts and partners with external partners to identify proper rev rec
  • Assist in managing systems, such as Quickbooks, NetSuite, Adaptive, Gusto, Betterment, Expensify, SVB Cash mgmt.,, others and new additions as needed
  • Maintain inventory accounting and tracking of physical goods sales and reporting
  • Assist in FP&A functions such as analysis of monthly revenue, and spend vs. budget
  • Strong communicator, both written and verbal
  • Proficient in GAAP accounting principals
  • Efficient, fast at the keyboard
  • Extremely strong attention to detail
  • Proactive. Will follow up when things don’t get resolved
  • Enthusiasm and passion for quality
  • Takes responsibility for making sure issues are resolved quickly
  • Experience with Inventory Accounting helpful
