SENIOR ACCOUNTANT, LEAD

Job Profile Summary

Position utilizes a combination of accounting, process analysis, project administration and technical systems knowledge and skills. Responsible for a variety of accounting, analytical, process management and systems related tasks. Uses professional accounting concepts as an intermediately qualified, capable professional with a strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. Assists in formulating and defining systems scope and objectives through research and fact-finding, combined with a basic understanding of business systems and business unit specific requirements. Includes analysis of business and user needs, documenting requirements, and recommending modifications of existing system logic difficulties as necessary. Works on a wide range of issues in imaginative, as well as, practical ways. Interacts with all levels of staff and divisional business partners on a daily basis. Will perform tasks under general supervision and work products will be reviewed as needed.

Job Description

Essential Functions

Conducts very detailed reviews of business partner accruals, reconciliations and purchase requisitions. Provides coaching and constructive feedback in accordance with internal accounting processes and procedures.

Acquires, provides and exchanges reconciliation and accrual information with business partners.

Works and collaborates with others in either a lead or support role as business needs demand.

Acts as the accounting liaison between divisional business partners and the accounting division.

Acts as the systems process, upgrades and enhancements liaison between divisional business partners and the IT division.

Assists the Finance and Accounting divisions with creating, designing and distributing financial reports for business partners.

Gathers information in order to document processes and procedures for a variety of internal and system related activities and workflows. Provides system process coaching and training to business partners.

Provides accounting direction in support of the maintenance, modification and implementation of system enhancements, upgrades and alterations.

May participate, or assume responsibilities, in accounting system projects, to include the development and/or enhancement of current and new system processes and procedures.

Leads processes related to conducting system test plans and preliminary analysis, in order to determine and mitigate sources of process and system type discrepancies.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

The ability to manage projects, accurately complete detailed assignments, understand and interpret broad operational accounting concepts and their application to the business unit

Strong oral communication and business writing skills

Strong mathematical and organizational skills

Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)

Strong data collection and process documentation skills

Strong Excel skills needed, such as; financial formulas, logical functions, pivot tables, vlook-ups and more

Intermediate financial analytic skills

Basic understanding of Procure to Pay (P2P) and Order to Cash (OTC) accounting functions and processes

Basic understanding of budgeting and forecasting

Basic knowledge of either business or systems analysis (preferred)

Ability to work as a member of a team

Education & Experience / Licenses & Certification

Bachelor's degree with emphasis on Business Administration, Finance or Accounting or equivalent experience.

8-10+ years previous relevant work experience or public accounting background

CPA required

Experience assisting or leading the management of projects or processes

Experience performing business systems analysis (preferred)

Experience using Workday software (highly preferred)

Experience assisting or leading system implementations, enhancements and upgrades (highly preferred)
