Microsoft Germany is looking for a motivated, self-driven individual to drive Azure adoption with the local professional developer community incl. IoT. This role will be accountable for driving awareness and engagement within the professional IoT developer community, both as the local developer audience expert and as an Azure PaaS & SaaS subject-matter expert. The role has access to leading edge technology innovations. Local and corporate engineering teams and will translate innovation into local developer market requirements. And vice versa the role will have the opportunity to influence product development by reporting back community feedback to engineering and business. The Azure Developer PMM helps drive broad awareness, skilling and adoption of Azure services with focus on IoT to promote a self-sustaining ecosystem of skilled cloud developers.

The developer audience is a key strategic growth lever for the company. In the context of transformation triggered through innovative technologies such as in IoT, all industries (Manufacturing and Automotive in particular for Germany) are disrupted. The role will collaborate with stakeholders incl. but not limited to the Azure IIoT Engineering Team, the IoT Garage, and the EMEA IoT & AI Insider Lab, (all located in Munich), will have access to contribute to partnerships with associations such as Open Manufacturing Platform (OMP), EnOcean Alliance, OPC-UA Foundation, VDMA and use those insights to evangelize Microsoft IoT technologies to developers.

The right candidate is a technical leader with strong developer community roots and deep developer audience expertise. We are looking for a candidate with experience in both the open-source and Microsoft development stacks, who is comfortable in delivering the Azure value proposition to professional developers.

  • Build and own the local Azure IoT developer marketing plan, partnering with fellow leaders (local and corporate) to create a coherent business plan that prioritizes and customizes a local dev marketing mix of social, digital, and one-to-many experiential activities, in alignment with the Corporate marketing strategy and plan.
  • Be the audience expert on the local professional IoT cloud developer ecosystem (audience sizing, developer trends, competitive cloud platform landscape). Be the voice of the local developer audience and provide timely feedback that will shape the corporate engagement strategy.
  • Be comfortable telling the Azure story to the local developer audience at local events and communities.
  • Plan and execute compelling marketing and evangelism activities that promote Microsoft Azure IoT products & services to professional developers
  • Build, foster and maintain a healthy relationship with marketing and advocacy resources, and understand how to optimize resource utilization to execute the local developer marketing plan, and grow our Azure developer network.
  • Plan and execute the local product marketing strategy for Microsoft Azure IoT to professional developers through local Microsoft marketing engines and Global Engagement Programs
  • Set local community strategy (online, offline) and influence local community leaders and networks
  • Determine key insights and asks to accelerate adoption of Microsoft Azure back into subsidiary leadership team.


  • Passion for technology and a university degree or equivalent in computer science or business management
  • The ideal candidate speaks 1.) the language of developers 2.) has passion to drive programmatic engagements with communities and 3.) will bring a strong IoT and developer background.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience of technical experience in IoT projects with a proven record of building technical relationships within the local professional IoT developer community
  • Strong understanding of software development principles, cloud platforms, business drivers, and emerging trends
  • Demonstrated technical capabilities with non-Microsoft and Microsoft technologies and tools
  • Deep insight about local technical IoT ecosystem, including cloud platform providers and business trends
  • Track record of strategic organizational impact and influence
  • Track record of v-team accomplishments (cross boundary collaboration and interpersonal awareness)
  • Exceptional relationship building skills and team building and decision-making,
  • Results driven; with exceptional presentation, verbal, and written communication
  • German native speaking and fluency in English
