We are looking for multiple Mechanical Engineers (Early to Senior level career stage) within a cross product engineering team to support all Microsoft Devices development. We have multiple roles including Design, Lab, Test, Infrastructure, Processes and Services. Candidate should be self-motivated, customer focused, analytical, data driven, results oriented and highly collaborative under team environment.

 

Responsibilities

Roles and Responsibilities:

We have multiple roles for Mechanical Engineers with responsibilities in one or many of the below areas,

  • Use a system engineering approach of discovery, focusing on early testing and investigations with internal stakeholders to deliver sound data and innovative ideas.
  • Work closely with others to build and modify prototypes, design and perform testing, and provide potential solutions in support of the product development.
  • Design and use testing machines and fixtures to provide fast feedback to various stakeholders.
  • Drive engineering rigor among development teams to establish world class standards and processes to deliver consistency across the Devices organization.
  • Engage and align key stakeholders and process owners to drive component reuse across multiple products.
  • Lead centralized MCAD library support to all product design teams within Microsoft.
  • Synthesize component requirements, create new 3D CAD design and review existing CAD geometry for accuracy and update as needed.
  • Deliver detailed Engineering drawings for complex parts.
  • Create and maintain mechanical engineering BOM.
  • Identify and lead process improvement opportunities to drive efficiency in our product development lifecycle.

 

Qualifications

Candidate Requirements:

 

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills/experience.

 

Note: Engineering Depth and Experience on Senior level role will be significantly higher than the Early / Mid in career level role.

 

Minimum Requirement:

  • B.S. Mechanical engineering.
  • 2+ years of experience working as a mechanical engineer.

 

 

Desired Skills and qualification: (One or many of these skills apply to relevant roles.)

  • Able to Multi-task, be a self-starter, work under pressure and meet deadlines consistently.
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity/uncertainty and a willingness to try new/challenging things.
  • Ability to coach and mentor others as well as take direct action.
  • Identifies improvements in the design of major component assemblies or program areas for a product group, based on customer or partner feedback.
  • Demonstrated experience in stakeholder / program management skills.
  • Highly capable in synthesizing complex requirements, resolving competing requirements, resolving conflicts and drive clear direction for the team and for the organization.
  • Prior experience working on High Volume Mfg. product development is highly preferred.
  • M.S. in related engineering discipline preferred for certain roles.
  • 3+ years of experience using Creo or other 3D Modelling tools is desired.
  • Having experience doing Mechanical Drafting work is desired.
  • Having prior experience doing ECAD-MCAD work is a plus.
  • Knowledge of mechanical tolerance analysis and Design of Experimentation (DOE) techniques.
  • Ability to drive world class MCAD infrastructure while staying on top of industry trends and cutting-edge technology adoption.
  • Self-motivated to engage and influence the target audience with clarity and persuasiveness. Builds plans that consider potential obstacles and immediate and long-term consequences. 
  • Good understanding of BOM tracking and BOM Management is a plus.
  • Having prior knowledge and/or experience in performing engineering simulation & analysis is a plus.
  • 3+ years of experience on using PDMLink or equivalent Design Data Management tool is a plus.
