Job Purpose: (Job Summary):

Responsible for working as a team member of databaseengineering team to design, architect, manage, maintain, and implement databasemanagement systems and infrastructure solutions for assigned clients.  Broad understanding of solutions, industrybest practices, multiple business processes or technology designs within Oracleproduct/technology family. Operates independently to provide quality work tomultiple engagements. Performs varied and complex duties and tasks that needindependent judgment, in order to implement Oracle products and technology tomeet customer needs and companies standards.  Applies Oracle methodology, companyprocedures, and leading practices. Demonstrates expertise to deliver functionaland technical solutions on moderately complex infrastructure and applicationengagements. May lead the solution design and implementation aspects ofengagement(s) ensuring high quality, integrated software solutions withinconstraints of time and budget. May act as the team lead on projects, providingcoaching, guidance and feedback to develop skills of team members withinengineering and operations. Effectively consults and communicates withmanagement of our infrastructure organization. Participates in businessdevelopment activities. Develops and leads detailed solutions for moderatelycomplex projects.

Support and guide database operations team on performance,availability, integrity, and security of Invesco’s database environment whilecontinuously improving customer experience and enhance business capabilitiesmore efficiently.

 
Key Responsibilities/ Duties:
  • Design,install and maintain complex Oracle databases including all aspects of highavailability, backup/recovery, security, integrity, performance tuning

  • Assist withthe development of DB standards and design new systems and procedures to makeefficient use of available resources.

  • Providesupport and guidance to developers with database SQL and tuning andoptimization. Provide primary problem management support by receiving,troubleshooting, and solving the daily problems reported by internal customers.Create and maintain complete documentation necessary for all systems andprocedures.

  • Assist withimplementing more advanced database modules and features (e.g. replication,clustering, partitioning, etc.).

  • Providetechnical leadership and recommendation into the future direction of databasetechnology.

  • DBA support for Oracle production,disaster recovery and non-production environments, including new databaseserver installation and configurations, minor/major upgrades, system certifications,and implementations.

  • Develop and Support highavailability (HA) solutions such as RAC (or RAC1 node), Data Guard, LogShipping, Replication etc.

  • Provide extensive support forperformance tuning and monitoring various databases. Support various businessand application teams for database performance tuning related to businessrequirements.

  • Perform/Assist in migrations fromOracle to MS SQL Server and/or PostgreSQL (On-premise and/or Cloud).

  • Design and certify nextgeneration database technologies related to Oracle 18 and 19C, PostgreSQL, AWSRDS, AWS RedShift, MongoDB, CouchBase, Vertica etc.

  • Database deployments on Windows, AWS/Cloud,and Linux platforms.

  • Develop and document databasepolicies, procedures, and standards.

  • Automate database installation,configuration, management standards, and procedures based on industry bestpractices.

  • Improve uptime and reduceunplanned downtime through automation and proactive monitoring.

  • Establish and maintain accesscontrols and security for all database environments (including CIS benchmarks).

  • Proactively maintain databasesystems at the latest security patch levels.

  • Provide support to our DBAoperations team and our application teams.

  • Assist operations team indatabase installations, including troubleshooting, problem resolution, andon-call after hours and weekend support if needed.

  • Mentor/Train our DBA operations teamin the installation, configuration, and maintenance of databases, provideknowledge transfer on a regular basis.

  • Develop best practices and enforce these standards across the team
  • Remain up to date withdevelopments and trends in the database arena.

     

 

WorkExperience/ Knowledge:  

  • Minimum of sevenyears of experience in administering and managing large Oracle databases incomplex enterprise environments
  • Provenability in managing Oracle RAC (and RAC1 node), Oracle Dataguard, Oracle GoldenGate, Oracle Exadata
  • Industry experience with all things Oracle, including development tools andscripting languages.
  • Possess strong technical and task/timeline oriented skills necessary toensure projects are completed in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Experience implementing new technologies and HA.
  • Excellent problem solving skills and able to handle multiple issues.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships withcoworkers and clients.
  • Well versed with Security (including CIS benchmarks) and auditing.
  • Working with Guardium and Oracle AuditVault is a plus.
  • Able to design and implement foolproof security solutions.
  • Solid performance tuning skills and able to diagnose problems quickly andefficiently.
  • Proficientin Oracle RAC, ASM, RMAN, AWR, ADDM and shell scripting. Strong knowledge ofOEM management and administration
  • Deployment and support of Oracle products on VMwareClusters.
  • Extensive experience using programminglanguages such as: Power Shell Scripting, Java, PL/SQL, and/or Python.
  • 7+ years of experience performingdatabase performance analysis, system and statement SQL tuning.
  • 7+ years of experience as asenior database administrator supporting major configurations of highlyavailable and scalable fault tolerance environments.
  • Strong SQL and PL/SQL experiencein Oracle environment.
  • Experience of migrating Oracledatabases to MS SQL Server, and/or PostgreSQL.
  • Knowledge of DevOps/Infra as Codepractices and tools like Git, Bitbucket, Bamboo
  • Knowledge of using puppet forConfiguration Management to maintain environments.
  • Must have working knowledge withAgile methodologies and tools like Confluence/JIRA.
  • Two+ years of experience workingwith AWS RDS, PostgreSQL, and NoSQL (Mongo or Couchbase) databases.
  • Excellentskill in problem diagnosis, troubleshooting, performance monitoring and tuning

FormalEducation: 

  • ABachelor’s Degree in Computer Information Systems or Computer Science ispreferred. 
  • Musthave formal training on Oracle.
  • Workexperience with MS SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and AWS/Cloud databases.

WorkingConditions:

  • Normal officeenvironment with little exposure to noise, dust and temperatures. 
  • The ability to lift,carry or otherwise move objects of up to 10 pounds is also necessary. 
  • Normally works aregular schedule of hours, however hours may vary depending upon the project orassignment. 
  • Hours may includeevenings and/or weekends and may include 24 hour a day on call support by pagerand/or cell phone.
 
License/Registration/Certification:
  • OracleDatabase Certification is preferred.
  • Cloudand PostgreSQL database certification is a plus.
