Our team develops Azure Sphere, the newly announced Microsoft solution for highly-secured, Internet-connected microcontroller (MCU) devices.  We work in small, collaborative groups in Microsoft's AI & Research Division to build the massively scalable cloud services that run non-stop around the globe to guard the integrity of every Azure Sphere device.

Responsibilities

  • Architect, design, and implement V1 backend cloud services in collaboration with teammates.
  • Design services with a strong focus on high availability and scalability, robustness, and observability.
  • Grow and mentor junior developers.
  • Build software prototypes and conduct experiments to evaluate alternative architectures.
  • Take end-to-end responsibility for the development, observability, quality, testing, and production readiness of the services you build.

Qualifications

REQUIRED

  • 7 or more years of software design and development experience.
  • A bachelor's degree in computer science or computer engineering, OR an additional 4 years work experience.
  • 3 or more years of experience designing, developing, and shipping large-scale backend cloud services.
  • Experience developing production code in C# or Java.

 

PREFERRED

  • Experience building and shipping backend services on Azure's cloud infrastructure.
  • 3 or more years of experience developing production code in C#.
  • Proven experience working through the full product cycle from initial design to final product.
  • Passion for quality with experience designing and implementing automated tests, including unit tests, integration tests, and performance tests.
