Microsoft is a leader in the design of world class entertainment devices.  Microsoft’s Silicon team builds custom silicon for Microsoft’s innovative hardware products including Microsoft Xbox, HoloLens.

Responsibilities

We are looking for a lead Principal design engineer to work in our dynamic Silicon team. The candidate must be a highly motivated, self-starter who will thrive in this cutting-edge technical environment. You will be part of the design team, driving many facets of design at IP and SoC level. The tasks will include working with architecture teams on IP requirements, designing to the specifications and/or driving 3rd party IP evaluations. You will be responsible for working with verification teams ensuring that IP is implemented and verified to the spec.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • BS/MS in Electrical or Computer Engineering or related field with 15+ years of experience.
  • Experience in designing IP and completing SoC tape outs in deep sub-micron technologies
  • Expertise in digital design including microarchitecture specification development, RTL coding in Verilog, LINT and CDC
  • Knowledgeable in one or more industry standard interfaces such as AMBA, PCIe, DDR, etc protocols 
  • Experience in mapping SW algorithms to HW with low power techniques
  • Experience in chip design quality tapeout through design and checklist reviews
  • Knowledgeable and experience in High Level Synthesis (HLS) is a plus.
  • Experience with low power implementation methodologies is a plus 
  • Communication skills and the ability to facilitate collaboration across Microsoft internal groups and external vendors
  • Requires occasional travel

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role.
