Position Overview
This role can be located in the West Coast/Remote.
Autodesk's Development Enablement organization seeks a hands-on, experienced engineering manager to lead a team of intelligent and driven engineers responsible for building, maintaining, and supporting Autodesk's next-generation platform infrastructure.
This successful manager will lead the infrastructure teams that manage cloud platform technologies, will have exceptional engineering leadership experience and proven hands-on background, a strong sense of ownership, and can drive projects through completion; they will be well-versed in modern automation frameworks that will be used to build supportive services used by our internal customer base.
They will lead the infrastructure teams that manage cloud technologies, middleware, language runtimes, CI/CD build and deployment systems, core libraries, debugging and monitoring tools, etc. that support Autodesk engineering across the world.
Responsibilities
Lead, manage and mentor the Infrastructure / SRE team
Provide insight, feedback, and recommendations to senior management
Identify efficiency opportunities through automation and engineering
Be responsible for the overall planning, execution, and success of technical projects
Work with architects, product owners, and experience designers towards a shared vision and actively contribute to product roadmaps and business strategies
Attract, hire, and continuously grow top engineering talent
Collaborate with a geographically dispersed team and stakeholders
Build and foster a high-performance culture
Work with Autodesk's engineering teams to ensure applications and services are highly available and reliable
Perform code reviews, evaluate implementations, and provide feedback for tool improvements
Engage in technical and architectural discussions and decision-making
Collaborate with stakeholders to understand requirements, understand use cases and build toward a cohesive technical strategy
Automate processes where possible and propose new tools when needed
Cross-train and mentor teammates
Minimum Qualifications
Hands-on experience with cloud technologies (AWS)
Strong understanding of designing and developing large-scale, distributed microservices architecture and platforms
10+ years of relevant industry experience, 5+ years of hands-on technical leadership, and 5+ years of people management experience (a must)
Experience working with remote teams and other cross-functional stakeholders
Recent hands-on experience with in one or more languages - Python/Go. (a must)
Experience with Scrum and agile development processes and methodologies
Customer-facing and service-oriented person
Understanding & curiosity of DevOps best practices, architectures, and methods
4+ years of experience with Docker and Kubernetes/ECS environments
4+ years of experience with configuration management tools and cloud automation (eg. TerraForm, Chef, Ansible, etc.)
4+ years of experience defining and building CI/CD processes and working with common CI/CD tools (Jenkins/Circle CI/Spinnaker, etc.)
Good self-management skills and ability to track and prioritize multiple tasks coming in simultaneously
Preferred Qualifications
Experience building apps on AWS using services such as Step functions, DynamoDB, IAM, EC2, CloudWatch and Lambda
Experience consuming, designing, and implementing REST APIs
Good understanding of networking and security concepts
Experience with monitoring and logging tools (NewRelic, Splunk, ELK)

Salary is one part of Autodesk’s competitive package. For U.S.-based roles, we expect a starting base salary between $131,200 and $212,300. Offers are based on the candidate’s experience and geographic location, and may exceed this range. In addition to base salaries, we also have a significant emphasis on annual cash bonuses, commissions for sales roles, stock grants, and a comprehensive benefits package.
