Position Description

In this Data Visualization role on the NBA’s Content Strategy & Business Intelligence team, you will leverage data and visualization tools such as Tableau and Power BI to help drive the NBA’s digital content business. Reporting into the Director of Digital Data Strategy & Analytics, you will collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and various stakeholders across the league to identify opportunities to automate content reporting and analytics using the NBA’s extensive social and digital databases. 

Major Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain Tableau reporting solutions and provide analysis on digital licensing content performance to optimize content offerings and increase revenue
• Publish and maintain customized, interactive reports and dashboards on Tableau Server
• Communicate with data engineers and data warehouse experts to maintain Tableau Server space
• Serve as team’s Tableau expert, providing guidance to Content Reporting and Analytics team, as well as various stakeholders across the league
• Collaborate with Content Reporting and Analytics team to determine opportunities for automated reporting
• Perform data analysis (A/B testing, regression analysis, etc.) to optimize content, inform strategic changes and identify new licensing opportunities

Required Experience & Knowledge

• 3+ years’ experience developing business intelligence tools to create business value through data visualization and reporting 
• 3+ years’ experience using Tableau Desktop, including calculations and visualizations
• Strong data background and exemplary analytical skills
• High attention to detail, and ability to design and innovate with data visualization tools (i.e. Tableau, Power BI)
• Knowledge of data visualization design and principles
• Advanced background and experience working with Microsoft Excel/Google Sheets
• Ability to work within demanding timeframes in a fast-paced environment
• Exposure to digital and social data preferred, but not required
• Digital media industry experience is preferred
