We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer, with Sheet Metal expertise, within a cross product engineering team to support all Microsoft Devices development.


Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Understand and support mechanical engineering, tooling, and manufacturing requirements while creating mechanical drawings to be used both within the local Engineering teams and with external vendors.
  • Own sub-system designs such as Shield Cans and Shield Lids from end to end while working with other engineers and designers.  
  • Provide consultation about Sheet metal design and manufacturing processes as needed.
  • Collaborate with project managers, designers, production and internal customers to ensure needs are understood and addressed in a timely manner.
  • Work with the Product development team located in United States and assist in root cause analysis investigations during engineering and production build cycle.
  • Work with the production manager and suppliers to continuously seek improvements for cost, quality and efficiency in the manufacturing processes.
  • Synthesize component requirements, create new 3D CAD design and review existing CAD geometry for accuracy and update as needed.



Candidate Requirements:


Minimum Requirement:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
  • Ability to clearly communicate in English as well in Mandarin.
  • Ability to travel and visit Manufacturing facilities and Suppliers. Travel up to 40%.




Desired Skills and qualification:

  • Preffered 3+ years of experience working in sheet metal part design and manufacturing
  • Expertise in sheet metal production processes, raw materials, bend deductions, production costs and quality control principles.
  • Manufacturing experience in sheet metal fabrication is highly desired.
  • Past experience in components design of machined parts is highly desired.
  • Working experience with 3-D Solid modeling and Mechanical Drafting.
  • Knowledge of design principles and techniques, tolerances and interpretation of precision technical plans and models with a high attention to detail
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity/uncertainty and a willingness to try new/challenging things.
  • Prior experience working on High Volume Mfg. product development is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of mechanical tolerance analysis and Design of Experimentation (DOE) techniques is a plus.
  • Ability to read, analyze, interpret, and create technical documents, engineering drawings, engineering documentation. Ability to create documents and correspondence to effectively present information, respond to questions, solve problems and justify needs
  • Engineering experience with strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to use logical and reason-based analysis to identify and communicate process and product options while driving production ready solutions.
