Silicon Enablement Firmware Engineer - CSI / Azure - Cloud Server Infrastructure

The Cloud Server Infrastructure Firmware Development (CSI-FW) team is responsible for server hardware definition, design and development of Server and Rack Infrastructure engineering for Microsoft's online services. We work closely with Microsoft product groups, industry partners and researchers to architect and develop server hardware solutions that meet the requirements for our cloud services platforms.

 

Role & Opportunity: This role will be is for a highly motivated Senior Firmware Engineer with a background in Linux embedded or Real-Time Operating System (RTOS) technologies.   You will be involved with all phases of product development, from design through to bring-up, manufacturing and release. At the design phase, you will lead microcontroller and SoC feature development through proof-of-concept models, architecture development, and contribute to technical decisions for silicon selection.   During the design and development phase, you will be responsible for embedded operation system porting, driver and protocol development.

Responsibilities

The candidate should have strong design and development skills, with experience contributing to the design, implementation of low-level embedded systems.   We are looking for someone with strong systems background and passion for security, Linux embedded or Real Time OS internals. The successful candidate should have experience with some of the following: Linux, Embedded Systems, storage protocols, board support packages and strong C and embedded driver development.

Qualifications

- 5+ years of professional experience designing, developing in Embedded Systems.

- Proven and demonstrable skill in C. Experience with GIT are an added plus.

- Experience with Linux Embedded and/or Real-time Operating Systems (RTOS)

- Experience using or implementing Secure boot, and Protocol Security.

- Familiarity with PCIe, I2C, SPI, USB or UART buses

- Ability to debug and resolve issues spanning multiple subsystems

- Strong problem solving, debugging and troubleshooting skills, advanced design and development skills

- BS/MS in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent industry experience
