Position Overview

Siemens Weiss Spindle Service in the Mentor, Ohio is looking for a Repair Center Technician to disassemble and clean parts for Machine Tool Motorized Spindles.

·        Perform initial inspections on incoming motorized spindles

·        Disassembly of motorized spindles

·        Cleaning of spindle parts


Responsibilities

·         Perform initial inspections on incoming motorized spindles

    • Mechanical measurements using dial calipers and dial indicators to measure certain sizes of the spindles to capture the incoming state of the spindle
    • Using Hydraulic pump to check and test hydraulic unit of the spindle
    • Using various electrical tools to measure the electrical components of the spindle. This would include voltmeter, oscilloscopes, and stator checker for the condition of the electric motor
  • Disassembly of motorized spindles
    • Mechanical disassembly using hand tools and power tools (wrenches, screwdrivers, impact, hydraulic press)

Physical Demands:

·         Requires sitting, standing, bending and reaching.

·         May require lifting up to 75 pounds.


Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Capability to understand assembly drawings showing how spindle is put together in order to disassemble spindle in the proper sequence
  • Basic hands on Mechanical and Electrical skills
  • General computer knowledge.
    • Enter daily work time into computer program.
    • Taking pictures of spindle and downloading to computer.
  • Record data and measurements taken.
  • Write brief report of problems found.

Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience

  • Experience with electric motors would be a plus but not required.
  • Experience with disassembly / assembly of mechanical / electrical parts such as working on cars, this would be a plus but not required.
  • Familiar with the metric measuring system.

Available to work 1st shift every weekday and overtime as needed.
