The Team:
Our Continental European Insurance Ratings team are a highly experienced, diverse, efficient, innovative, and international credit research group of colleagues based across Frankfurt, Paris, London, Milan, Madrid and Stockholm.
The team is part of the EMEA Sovereign and Financial Services Group, which performs surveillance on all EMEA based Sovereign, International Public Finance, Insurance, and Financial Institutions ratings.

You will engage and discuss industry fundamentals with senior management teams and build a network with key industry stakeholders.

Responsibilities:
As an Associate, you will be responsible for a portfolio of credit ratings leading the credit analysis and issuer relationships with insurance groups mainly in the Nordics. Your responsibilities will include meeting various insurers in the region and clearly communicating our views on the companies’ credit story to rated issuers, investors, and intermediaries. You will publish high quality and forward-looking rating reports and thought leadership sector research. You will take responsibility for some of our Nordic sector benchmark Insurance Industry & Country Risk Assessments. You are expected to stay analytically abreast of evolving market dynamics and industry trends. Working within this regulated industry also involves keeping abreast of regulations in the markets we serve and respecting our policies and guidelines.
What We’re Looking For:
An S&P Global employee at this level would typically have 3-7 years’ analytical experience
Adept at understanding and analysing financial statements and solvency reporting of insurance companies.
Thorough understanding of financial and capital markets, business environments, and relevant insurance regulations in Nordic insurance markets.
Ability to author research articles on insurance markets.
Actuarial or accounting background, or CFA/FRM qualification would be desirable but is not a prerequisite.
Hold a degree in a relevant business-related field.
Exemplary written and oral communication skills in English and at least one Nordic language are essential.
A highly motivated team player who can work autonomously in a global, multi-cultural and fast-paced environment with strong organizational skills and execution mind-set
Computer literate possessing good Excel/Word/PowerPoint and database application skills. Having the ability to use database, data visualization tools, or programming languages would be a plus.
