Position Summary:

The Global Media Insights team is the NBA's internal media research group which works across multiple departments within the league office to help inform key stakeholders on the viewership landscape and trends! As the Global Media Insights Strategist, you will be an integral member of the Global Media Insights team, helping to serve a diverse portfolio of internal stakeholders.


You will be expected to analyze and interpret media research data and turn them into actionable insights to help inform key tactical and strategic initiatives across the NBA. In joining this team, you will help to contribute to continuous learning, insightful analysis, and innovation with an unrelenting focus on serving your stakeholders.


Major Responsibilities:

  • Pull viewership analytics from a variety of sources in order to provide data-driven intelligence
  • Analyze, interpret and craft stories on viewing patterns, national/local markets, trends and competitors, etc.
  • Demonstrate expertise and in-depth knowledge of Nielsen's methodology and systems
  • Know and understand the competitive landscape and trends within the TV landscape
  • Communicate complex, data-driven insights in a clear and compelling manner via slides, reports and/or emails
  • Be able to respond nimbly to ad-hoc requests from a variety of key stakeholders
  • Provide support and act as a back-up for the other Global Media Insights team members
  • Perform quality assurance checks on all internal and external reports


Required Skills/Knowledge:

  • 3+ years of experience Media/TV audience research experience
  • Experience with TV research data analytic tools, such as Npower, NNTV and NLTV
    • Working knowledge of third-party software systems (Star Media, ComScore, Lake5, Google Analytics, iSpot, Adobe Analytics) is a plus
  • Strong verbal, presentation and written skills
  • Be a storyteller - know how to turn data into actionable, strategic insights
  • Must be numbers savvy
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word
  • Analytical thinker
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with team members and internal clients
  • Be able to multi-task while meeting deadlines Have a passion for sports, media and data



  • Bachelor's Degree, preferably in a quantitative field



  • $80,000 to $95,000 per year
