Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of product marketing experience with a focus on consumer tech or hardware products.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience in product branding, messaging, positioning, targeting, and multi-country product launches.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with experience successfully collaborating with cross functional teams.
  • Track record shaping product roadmaps and user experiences through actionable insights and recommendations.
  • Knowledge of developer API’s, cloud and networking API’s, wireless protocol technologies such as BLE, ZigBee and Thread 802.15.4, used in smart home products.
  • Analytical mindset with strong quantitative reasoning, creativity and strategic skills. Demonstrated ability to think strategically about complex challenges, leading to thoughtful recommendations and action plans.
  • Ability to influence all levels and work effectively across functions and geographies.

The Google Nest team is building products, services, and a smart home partner ecosystem that allow our consumers to know what’s happening in their home, easily engage Nest and third-party products to help around the house and make sure everyone’s safe and sound. We do this by surfacing the best of Google’s products, technologies and services into beautiful consumer experiences that are simple, fast, smart, and personal – making them indispensable in solving meaningful consumer problems.

As a Product Marketing Manager, you'll work closely with cross-functional leadership across the hardware organization, ecosystem product management, business development, public relations, consumer marketing, as well as the Google Assistant teams. Together with these teams, you will research, plan, and execute ambitious ecosystem activations, initiatives, and campaigns including the new smart home partner catalog and discovery site. You will provide marketing launch support for Made for Google partners, and will work closely with business development and our partners to successfully launch their products within our ecosystem. Lastly, you’ll be responsible for messaging and naming our developer toolkits and technologies, and launch them to the developer community through marketing events such as Google I/O, to drive awareness and partner engagement.

Responsibilities
  • Become the expert on Google Nest 1P/3P products and services. Drive the overall product marketing vision for the smart home ecosystem and identify opportunities to engage product adoption.
  • Research, plan, and execute ambitious new smart home partner catalog and discovery site, by working closely with Web Development, Product, Sales, gStore, Support, Marketing and Creative teams etc.
  • Work closely with Product Managers and Brand Strategists in Marketing to develop positioning, messaging, competitive analysis, and translate these into strategies for developer and customer-facing materials and campaigns.
  • Distill key functionality and benefits into compelling value propositions and messages for consumers and developers. Create core content assets to tell our story, including videos, web and blog copy etc.
  • Manage the developer toolkit work streams for new features, APIs and products, including messaging, naming, core assets, and cross-team coordination.
