Battery life is a critical component of customer satisfaction – and in the Windows Fundamentals team, where we work every day to deliver great battery life across the huge variety of devices and form factors that run Windows, delivering great battery life is our passion. We take an “end to end” approach: driving the architecture of new platform functionality, working with silicon partners to eek every milliwatt we can out of the hardware, and using customer satisfaction and deep telemetry data to ensure our customers are satisfied with the results.

As a Senior Program Manager on the team, you will drive both depth and “scale-out” of our end-to-end power strategy. You will build strategies to take the deep technical knowledge on the team and make it accessible to the larger Windows organization; you will take product requirements and distill them down to features that need to be built and delivered to deliver the battery life our customers want; and you will use data to drive deep optimizations into the product.

Responsibilities

  • Cross team engagement: You’ll work with several teams across Windows to identify and drive power optimizations and features
  • Data analytics: You’ll analyze and derive insights on areas of opportunity from telemetry data to inform our investments and also quantify the improvements – and you’ll design ways to automate and “scale out” these insights
  • Strategy: Developing and driving the strategy for broadly scaling out our effort to improve power using telemetry analytics, leveraging platform features and building KPIs to continue to deliver battery life as a service
  • Technical depth: You’ll collaborate with several teams in Windows and silicon vendors to break down and understand power consumption, leverage telemetry and come up with creative solutions to improve and maintain battery life.
