Do you consider yourself an excellent negotiator? Yelp is looking for a clever counselor to join its small but nimble legal team. We’re a profitable, 6,000 person publicly traded company doing more than a billion dollars in annualized revenue with the support of a well-respected and highly dynamic team of influential lawyers whose numbers barely stretch into the double digits.

Although Yelp has grown substantially from its early days, the company prides itself on maintaining a startup culture and feel.  We are looking for someone with an impressive legal background who shares our commitment to providing innovative legal solutions.

Where you come in:

  • You will negotiate technology transactions and Yelp Advertising agreements.
  • You will work closely with Yelp’s tech sourcing, business development, and national ad sales teams.
  • You will have regular exposure to other areas of the business, with the opportunity to grow and develop in areas they may be less familiar with while helping their colleagues at the same time.

What it takes to succeed:

  • You're a contract geek that likes to "get to yes" while zealously protecting your clients’ interests.
  • You understand the ins and outs of the agreements you negotiate and appreciate the things that matter versus the things that don’t.
  • You are unfazed by unknowns, and have a proven track record of working autonomously and owning their outcomes.
  • You are organized, good with language, and good with people.
  • You have 4+ years’ experience negotiating commercial/tech contracts, big and small
  • You have substantial exposure to and experience with data privacy & security issues
  • You have big firm and/or boutique or in-house experience with recognized technology clients
  • You have excellent legal and business judgment; ability to think creatively about unique issues
  • You have a rigorous devotion to detail and organization
  • You hold a J.D., and attended a top law school, California bar or in-house registration

What you'll get:

  • Effective your first day: Full medical, vision, and dental coverage
  • 15 days PTO (increases with tenure) and 11 paid holidays
  • Up to 14 weeks of parental leave
  • Monthly wellness subsidy
  • Access to fully stocked Yelp kitchens
  • Flexible spending account
  • Pre-tax commuter benefits
  • 401(k) retirement savings plan
  • Employee stock purchase plan

Please use your cover letter to draw a clear connection between your work experience and the job requirements detailed above rather than simply rehashing your resume. Also, we ask that you reserve a paragraph or two of your cover letter to comment on a relevant legal topic of your choice.
