With the level of company change, and transformation aligned to the company’s strategy, Core Services and Engineering is looking for individuals who have the business acumen to help accelerate the Company’s transformation through their skills, capabilities and passion for driving change; their ability to understand and enable others; and their capacity for dealing with ambiguity. This role provides you with the ability to work across Area and Corporate Leadership, tap into your depth and breadth of business acumen, leverage your strengths in being a trusted advisor, as well as exercise your change management skillset. You’ll need to be competent in collaborating, adapting, driving results, as well as obsessing over our customers, often in ambiguous situations and environments.  

Responsibilities

The Area Capability Lead is a key leader in the field, the IT Business Partner driving change and transformation on behalf of the company’s strategy as well as being the key point of contact for field leadership with respect to IT plans, deployment activities, and adoption services:

 

  • You will enable broader change by effectively identifying key IT and business capability needs that tie to local business strategy, area dynamics, and regional insights, and work with peers across the world to prioritize and work with Corporate teams to address the most critical needs
  • You will also enable local change by influencing, landing and helping remove local barriers to adoption of global standard business and IT capabilities across Western Europe
  • Working in close partnership with Western Europe’s local segment/business group and regional leadership, business unit Directors, Field Solution Managers, and IT Managers is critical to your success

 

As the Area Capability Lead, you will develop and leverage a broad and deep level of cross business unit acumen:

 

  • Having this level of knowledge and context is critical to your success and ability to be the primary IT coordination point across Western Europe on behalf of other regional IT resources and services
  • Key day-to-day field stakeholder interactions will focus on area and subsidiary leadership, operational leads, segment/business unit managers, and business managers who are responsible for deciding and/or adopting agreed upon business and IT capabilities  

 

Lastly, as a result of your business understanding of particular regions and business segments within your geography, deep connected and trusted relationships, and close partnership with regional IT peers, you will:

 

  • Proactively identify the changing nature of local business and IT needs as well as the seams needed between business and IT capabilities
  • Be able to translate that distinctive knowledge into actionable insights and recommendations and see those through to resolution - and this will be key to realizing the impact for this distinct capability of the Area Capability Lead role
Qualifications

You wil lideally have proven experience running and designing enterprise scale services and platforms, with technical depth in cloud platforms and of agile development practices. In addition you must demonstrate the ability to ensure highly resilient and scalable service designs through partnership with other members of the service team:

 

  • Executive maturity and presence with proven capabilities in being a trusted advisor to key stakeholders and to influence and communicate at senior business and IT levels
  • Proven ability to manage work and teams across multiple time zones and cultures
  • Relevant business experience in change management, business analysis, capability management, sales/marketing/services operations, or other professional services roles 
  • Demonstrated experience working with and/or in business or IT leadership teams to drive enablement of new capabilities and simplification of existing processes or tools 
  • A deep understanding of at least one of Microsoft’s customer segment business models (Enterprise Commercial, SMC, Services, OCP, etc.): business model, role, process, tool, and information perspectives is preferred, but not essential
