Job Purpose (Job Summary):
The Senior Accountant is responsible for the accounting and reporting for certain private markets portfolios and/or Fund products. This may include real estate and/or private capital products. This person helps coordinate/review deliverables prepared by Invesco Private Markets accounting personnel in Hyderabad, India and supports the Assistant Controller and Controller on assigned client accounts.

Key Responsibilities / Duties:

  • Financial Review:
    • Main point of contact, with support from Invesco accounting personnel in Hyderabad, India, for third-party property management accounting providers or third-party administrators.
    • Effectively communicates and interacts with the third-party accountants to ensure financial and other deliverables are received by stated deadlines.
    • Completes monthly/quarterly review of property/company level financials to gain understanding of property/company level activities and to ensure accurate reporting.
    • Coordinates and manages the general accounting function concerning the accuracy and maintenance of the ledger accounts and resulting property financial statements.
    • Develops, maintains and updates accounting records for client assets. This is done in conjunction with Invesco accounting personnel in Hyderabad, India.
    • As applicable, calculates or reviews calculations performed by Invesco accounting personnel in Hyderabad, India and understands joint venture partner allocations and waterfall distributions.
  • Coordinate Acquisition/Disposition Closings for investments:
    • Reviews acquisition and disposition closing statements.
    • Coordinates payment to title companies/distributions to clients in conjunction with closings.
    • Prepares or reviews the acquisition and disposition entries for all assets on assigned portfolios.
    • Onboards new third-party property management accounting providers or joint venture partner.
  • Client Reporting:
    • Assists and/or prepares financial statements, client reporting information, net asset value statements, capital call and distribution notices, consultant reports and other financial reports on a monthly and quarterly basis.
    • Works with portfolio management on maintenance of comingled funds including credit facility activities, dashboard data, and fund expense reporting.
    • Prepares monthly/quarterly distribution notices to clients and calculates advisory and other fees owed to Invesco.
    • Calculates periodic client incentive fees.
    • Reviews accounting inputs used in performance return calculations.
  • Audit/Tax:
    • Drafts initial audit report, provides or coordinates delivery of audit support to auditors, works with Assistant Controller and Controller to incorporate auditor comments into final audit report. Prepares final tie out of audit report.
    • Reviews joint venture audits prepared by our partners.
    • Reviews tax returns prepared by tax advisors and coordinates with internal tax team on tax guidance.
  • Cash Management:
    • Takes ownership of maintenance of client bank accounts, including setup/closure, cash projections, and compliance.
    • Performs high level review of monthly cash reconciliations prepared by Invesco accounting personnel in Hyderabad, India.
    • Prepares/reviews wires and check requests.
    • Manages Invesco accounting personnel in Hyderabad, India in preparation of financial reporting and deliverables as included above.
    • Assists with development and implementation of policies and procedures as appropriate.
    • Serves on department specific task forces as appropriate.
    • Maintains a working relationship with portfolio and asset managers, product management and compliance as a part of the portfolio team.
    • Coordinates with legal & closings on the setup and liquidation of legal entities.

Work Experience / Knowledge:

  • Two to Three (or more) years related work experience.
  • Public Accounting background sought for position.
  • Real estate accounting background and CPA license preferred but not required.

Skills / Other Personal Attributes Required:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office. Experience with Yardi and/or Investran software a plus.
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to communicate effectively with a variety of individuals including both internal and external contacts.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Self motivated, organized and flexible.

Formal Education: (minimum requirement to perform job duties)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance/Accounting.
