As a Software Engineer II, you will be developing full-stack code and be a key player across all areas of the engineering lifecycle, including eliciting requirements from customers, defining the feature in partnership with UX designers and Product Owners, building the experience by writing the code, testing it and shipping it with quality and on time, and sustaining it through its maturity. The candidate should have strong communication skills, both written and verbal, since working comfortably and effectively with real customers – in-person – is part of our product lifecycle. We also expect the candidate to share their ideas, ask a lot of questions, show a desire to make our team better, and learn and adapt quickly.
 

Responsibilities

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Develop code that consistently meets team standards and is thoroughly tested, with minimal regression rates.
  • Develop and execute test plans. Implement monitoring and alerting of impact at appropriate points in the process, from developer inner loop to testing in production (TIP).
  • Design cloud solutions using microservice architecture and other techniques.
  • Design client experiences by applying knowledge of usability best practices, iterative design, and human-computer interaction (HCI).
  • Plan for tomorrow by architecting maintainability into the product.
  • Put customer first and display Customer Focus by mitigating experience impacts as an on-call-engineer and being diligent about root-cause analysis.
  • Help build our team culture by adding your values to our existing ones like being open, listening thoroughly, constantly learning, and sharing your perspective.
  • Leverage the work of others, including the work of peers, of internal Microsoft solutions, and of open-source and industry solutions, to avoid reinventing the wheel.
  • Continually try to nurture and grow your teammates’ skills by sharing your experiences, skills, and examples of best practices.
Qualifications

Some specific qualifications (two or more areas is a good starting point)

  • 3-5+ years of development and design experience in object oriented languages, with responsibility ownership across entire features. Coding is a primary requirement of this job.
  • Clear, concise, and effective verbal and written communicator.
  • Depth of knowledge and language experience in .NET C#, Javascript, TypeScript, React.
  • Experience in service delivery technologies (ASP.NET WebAPI+MVC Razor, WCF) and industry standards (REST, OData, GraphQL, Json).
  • Experience in building scalable services, with a strong drive to build solid platforms and thriving developer ecosystems.
  • Solid scalable database background (SQL, Azure Table, Documents DB, etc).
  • Good understanding of identity systems (oAuth2, etc).
  • Computer science background (B.S or equivalent degree).
