    Responsibilities: Research, design, and develop computer and network software or specialized utility programs. Analyze user needs and develop software solutions, applying principles and techniques of computer science, engineering, and mathematical analysis. Update software or enhance existing software capabilities.

    Lead the development of new features using full-stack technologies. Document the engineering design specifications and implementation decisions. Focus on quality, including writing unit/integration tests and refactoring when appropriate. Debug and solve defects in implemented software solutions across the tech stack. Collaborate effectively with UX Designers, Product Managers, SDETs, and other Software Engineers. Review other engineers’ code; dig into to the functional side, including pointing out patterns & anti-patterns, fundamentals, etc. Kick-off and contribute to technical discussions within and across teams, and consistently iterate on team processes. Willingly tackle complex problems, breaking them down into manageable chunks, ensuring the team understands the implementation. Keep up-to-date with evolving technologies and share knowledge with the team.

    Must be available to work on projects at various, unanticipated sites throughout the United States. Telecommuting is permitted.

    Minimum Requirements: Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field and 2 years of experience in the job offered or in a software developer-related occupation. Must be available to work on projects at various, unanticipated sites throughout the United States. Telecommuting is permitted.

    Special Requirements: Position requires at least 2 years of experience in each of the following skills:

    • Experience writing and maintaining existing backend code within an industry-standard framework, including API endpoints and database connections.

    • Experience reviewing and approving code written by other engineers on the team to confirm functionality as well as correct styling and patterns are used.

    • Experience participating in development throughout project lifecycle – carrying a project through initial development, QA, and release.

    • Experience writing technical documentation describing engineering design based on a problem brief. Experience clearly defining implementation details and engineering considerations, including but not limited to front-end components, APIs, data models, and third-party component integrations.

    • Experience communicating technical concepts clearly within team and wider organization via technical discussions and demos.

    • Experience writing front-end web application code using JavaScript in an industry-standard web framework (React or Angular).

    • Experience communicating effectively with cross-functional partners (i.e., UX, XD, PM) to determine the optimal solution to problems that arise during development.

    • Experience utilizing monitoring tools (i.e., DataDog, Sentry) to detect application errors and determine the root cause.

    • Experience maintaining and building data storage using SQL and/or NoSQL database frameworks and knowledge of data types and proper database design.

    Salary transparency  

    Salary is one part of Autodesk’s competitive compensation package. For U.S.-based roles, we expect a starting base salary between $147,368 - $180,000/year. Offers are based on the candidate’s experience and geographic location. In addition to base salaries, we also have a significant emphasis on annual cash bonuses, commissions for sales roles, stock grants, and a comprehensive benefits package.
