DESCRIPTION

We are looking for a talented Engine Field Service Technician - Level II to join our team specializing in Service for our Field Service Department in Kumasi, Ghana.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Efficient Repairs: By diagnosing and completing less complex engine repairs on-site, you’ll minimize downtime for customers, ensuring their operations run smoothly.
  • Customer Engagement: Your courteous and professional interactions will build strong relationships with customers, enhancing their overall experience and satisfaction.
  • Proactive Service: Anticipating and promptly addressing customer needs will demonstrate your commitment to excellent service and reliability.
  • Technical Expertise: Using specialized tools and following procedures to accurately diagnose and repair engines will showcase your technical skills and attention to detail.
  • Preventative Maintenance: Performing scheduled maintenance will help prevent future issues, extending the life of engines and related components.
  • Problem Escalation: By escalating unresolved issues to more experienced technicians or supervisors, you’ll ensure that complex problems are addressed efficiently, maintaining high service standards.
  • Documentation Accuracy: Completing required documentation accurately will support warranty claims, quality control, and business operations, contributing to the company’s success.
  • Health and Safety Compliance: Adhering to Health, Safety, and Environmental policies will ensure a safe working environment for yourself and others, highlighting your commitment to workplace safety.

RESPONSIBILITIES

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

  • Strong Diagnostic Skills: Ability to translate customer complaints into effective troubleshooting plans using specialized tools and diagnostic software to isolate and repair failed components accurately.
  • Technical Knowledge: Understanding of the interactions between various engine systems (electrical, mechanical, exhaust, heating, cooling, etc.) and the ability to interpret service publications and measurements for efficient diagnosis and repair.
  • Repair and Maintenance Expertise: Proficiency in repairing and maintaining mechanical/electrical products, following guidelines and using the required tools to ensure quality repairs and minimize customer costs.
  • Effective Escalation and Documentation: Skill in escalating technical issues appropriately, utilizing data management tools, and thoroughly documenting troubleshooting steps to ensure seamless transitions and timely resolution of customer issues.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education/ Experience:

  • Apprentice Trained Engine Technician (Preferred)
  • Vocational diploma from relevant technical institution
  • Locally valid driving permit
  • Basic level field service work experience
  • Intermediate level knowledge of and/or experience with engine products
  • Customer service experience
  • Knowledge of Cummins engines would be an advantage.
  • Knowledge of Cummins power generating sets would be an advantage.
